Memorial Day Weekend Weather Updates for New Jersey
The unofficial start of summer appears to be "on hold" due to the cooling off following Wednesday's intense rain in the Garden State.
Forecast models strongly agree that this weekend is unlikely to provide sunshine or warmth for the unofficial start of summer, in contrast to the erratic weather this winter.
From early Friday until the end of the three-day weekend—and possibly beyond—the sun may remain mostly buried in Central Jersey.
Forget the heat of ninety degrees. Instead, sweaters and windbreakers might be the standard.
Depending on the amount of rainfall, temperatures are predicted to drop into the 60s on Thursday and Friday and maybe as low as 50 on Saturday.
This decline follows a week that began with plenty of sunshine and highs in the nineties.
With highs close to 67 degrees, Friday is probably going to be the warmest day. With highs just in the upper 40s, Saturday afternoon temperatures might be almost 50 degrees cooler than the heat of the middle of the week.
With temperatures in the mid 50s on Sunday and barely making it to 60 on Memorial Day, conditions somewhat improve on Sunday and Monday.
According to the
National Weather Service, we go into a cooler and more erratic pattern with prospects of showers over the holiday weekend after a period of record-breaking heat.
On Saturday, the rain is expected to be consistent throughout the day, which will have enough of an influence on Memorial Day activities to warrant thinking about indoor backup plans.
There is some respite: As waves of showers move into Central Jersey beginning Friday night and continuing until Sunday morning, the ongoing drought in New Jersey may lessen.
Light but steady rain is predicted, making outside plans uncomfortable rather than completely canceled.
Although generally gloomy skies are predicted on Sunday, there might be a partial respite. When Memorial Day parades start on Monday morning, there may be another round of showers. Stay up to date with the lastest
forecast.
