Jack Leiter grew up around Major League Baseball, watching his father, Al Leiter, pitch and then broadcast games. Jack's dad Al Leiter was born October 23, 1965 in Toms River and grew up in Bayville. He and older brothers Kurt and Mark were all standouts in baseball from an early age. Al was a lefty and his brothers pitched right-handed.
On Sunday night, the 21-year-old right-handed pitcher was taken No. 2 overall in 2021 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers.
