NJ Braces for Possible Nor'easter This Weekend
According to Accuweather, This weekend, two storm systems that may combine to form a single, stronger coastal storm that might threaten New Jersey and other eastern states of the United States with torrential rain, powerful winds, thunderstorms, and coastal flooding are being monitored by forecasters.
"How nasty the weather becomes along the Eastern Seaboard this weekend will depend on whether or not the two storms phase [merge together]," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Dombek said. "But, even if the two remain separate, there will still be stormy conditions to contend with; stiff coastal winds and above-normal tides and minor coastal flooding possible."
According to AccuWeather, there is a chance that the northern storm will deliver some snow to the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, and Northeastern United States.
A storm system is predicted to travel up the East Coast Friday night, with precipitation overspreading the region from southwest to northeast, according to the National Weather Service's primary prediction office in New Jersey. The meteorological service said that temperatures in the Poconos and northern New Jersey may be low enough to produce some snow at the beginning of the storm, depending on what time it comes.
New Jersey is locked in a frigid weather pattern, even though spring officially sprung.. Daytime highs this week will typically range from the 40s to low 50s, while overnight lows will drop to the low 20s to mid-30s.
Thursday is expected to be the coldest day of the week, with afternoon highs in the low to mid-40s with wind gusts up to 25 mph making it feel even colder. Overnight lows in the low to mid-20s are expected for a large portion of the state.
