A man who ran an ATV over a police officer on Sunday is being sought after by the police.

Numerous reports of ATVs traveling carelessly through the town were received by the Ewing Police Department. Township police said in a statement on Monday that an officer saw a man trying to fill up his ATV at a Delta gas station on Princeton Avenue at 5:30 p.m.

According to police, the driver accelerated and ran the officer over as he got out of his car and got closer to the ATV. Other officers initiated a pursuit with the ATV as it was fleeing, but it was later terminated for safety reasons.

The officer was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

Police released a photo of the suspect on Monday and said he is wanted for aggravated assault. The Ewing Police Department is asking anyone with tips to call 609-882-1313.
