After being hit by a NJ Transit train near Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday afternoon, a young pedestrian has died.

According to NJ Transit, the victim was struck at the Forman Avenue crossing by a train that departed Long Branch soon after 3:45 p.m. and was headed for Bay Head.

The young person was transported to the hospital with unidentified injuries and later was pronounced dead.

The victim's age is currently unclear at press time.

There were no reported injuries among the train's crew or passengers.
