Nor’easter Takes Aim at New Jersey as Powerful Storm Approaches
New Jersey is bracing for gusty winds and multiple rounds of coastal flooding this week as a nor’easter moves closer, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters expect north to northeast winds to strengthen through midweek, with the strongest conditions expected along the coast as the offshore storm develops.
Wind gusts could reach 30 to 35 mph in coastal areas. Small Craft Advisories and Gale Warnings have also been issued for local marine zones.
Along with strong winds, New Jersey is expected to experience several rounds of coastal flooding throughout the week.
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for Tuesday evening’s high tide, with widespread minor tidal flooding expected in
Ocean, Atlantic, Cape May, and southeastern
Burlington counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters warn that tidal flooding could continue through at least Wednesday night. Wednesday evening’s high tide is currently the greatest concern, with widespread minor to lower-end moderate flooding possible, the agency said.
AccuWeather meteorologists say the approaching storm is not expected to be as powerful as the late September nor’easter that battered parts of southern New England, southeastern New York and New Jersey. Check the latest
