A Cape May County man charged with killing his mother was found by police on top of the woman’s headless body while he was nude and covered in blood, according to court documents.

Jeffrey D. Surgent, 46, called 911 about 4 p.m. Friday to report he “had just killed his mother,” according to an affidavit of probable cause. He indicated to police that he had mental health issues.

The victim was identified as Surgent’s mother, Alexandri M. Surgent, 74, of Central Avenue in Ocean City, according to the affidavit.
