Ivan Sevastianow of Howell
According to Lakewood police, a Howell Township man has been charged in relation to a robbery and an attempted robbery that took place at two banks in Lakewood in June.
Ivan Sevastianow, 67, was discovered to be in prison in Old Bridge in connection with a crime there and has now been charged with two counts of robbery, according to Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith.
According to Staffordsmith, Sevastianow entered the
Wells Fargo at 425 West Kennedy Boulevard on June 30 and delivered a bank teller a note demanding money.
He exited the Wells Fargo and crossed the street to the TD Bank at 1601 Madison Ave. when the teller turned down his request, according to Staffordsmith. He carried out the same procedure at TD Bank and gave the teller a note requesting payment.
Sevastianow was last seen traveling west on West Kennedy Boulevard after the TD Bank teller gave him roughly $1,500 in cash, according to Staffordsmith.
Officer Alex Guzman Jr. discovered throughout his investigation that the Old Bridge Township Police Department had detained a suspect on July 7 in relation to a bank robbery that had just taken place within their jurisdiction. The individual, identified as Ivan Sevastianow, was also accountable for the offenses in Lakewood, according to further research, Staffordsmith said.
The Middlesex County Jail is where Sevastianow is being detained.
