According to Lakewood Police Department, Oliver Vasquez, 36, died in the crash Saturday night after a Ford F-350 collided with the Ford Explorer in which he was a passenger.
Lakewood Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said Oliver Vasquez, 36, died as a result of his injuries sustained in the incident that occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday.
According to Staffordsmith, Vasquez was a passenger in a 2007 Ford Explorer that was struck by a 2006 Ford F-350 operated by Matthew Sebolt, 38, of Colts Neck.
Sebolt was traveling north on Route 9 when he collided with Moshe Mashitz, 34, in a 2010 Honda Accord. Mashitz was traveling north on Route 9 and attempting to turn left onto 9th Street at the time, according to Staffordsmith.
Sebolt went into the southbound lane of Route 9 after sideswiping the Honda and collided with the Explorer's driver's side, according to Staffordsmith. Before police came, the Explorer's driver fled the scene, but Vasquez and three other passengers remained, all of whom were hurt.
Omar Zamorano, 29, Aaron Morales, 54, and Jose Oliver Dominguez Calvo, 33, were the other three passengers. Calvo and Vasquez were rushed to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, where Vasquez was declared dead shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to Staffordsmith. Zamorano and Morales were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment.
There was no information about the three injured men's conditions.
"At this time no charges or summonses have been issued," Staffordsmith said.
