Ocean County Family Left Homeless After Devastating House Fire

BERKELEY, NJ — To help a Bayville family that lost "everything" in a house fire over the weekend, a GoFundMe has been started.

Sunday night, the house on Route 9 caught fire.

L Gourmet, a restaurant in Beachwood, organized a fundraiser to help the Lopez Gonzalez family.

According to the GoFundMe:

L Gourmet in Beachwood is reaching out to you on behalf of one of our own, Mayra Lopez Gonzalez and her three teenage children. As a high school student, 20 years ago, Mayra was my first hire when I started L Gourmet.

Through the years I've watched her grow into a mature, responsible, wonderful mother of three. She has such a positive attitude and is a joy to be around. Yesterday a fire destroyed the Bayville home where they were living and everything in it. Thankfully all family members got out safely. As you can imagine this loss is devastating.

All funds raised will help them start over with housing, daily needs, clothing, bedding, furnishings, etc. Every donation, large or small will help make a difference.

Thank you to all the firefighters, police and emergency personnel who assisted during this tragedy. Myra and family are extremely grateful to everyone for their support as this will be a long road ahead.
Firefighters rushed to the scene after flames broke out at the family’s residence, quickly engulfing large portions of the home. Thick smoke and intense flames could be seen pouring from the structure as emergency crews worked to bring the fire under control.

According to family members, everyone inside the home was able to escape safely, but nearly all of their belongings were lost in the blaze.

“We lost everything,” one family member said while describing the emotional aftermath of the fire.

Neighbors in the community have already begun stepping up to help, offering clothing, food, temporary shelter, and donations as the family begins the difficult process of starting over.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials have not yet released additional details about what may have sparked the blaze.

Friends and community members are now rallying around the family, with many taking to social media to share messages of support and organize ways to help those affected.

House fires can leave lasting emotional and financial impacts on families, even when everyone escapes safely. Local residents are being encouraged to support the family in any way they can during this challenging time.
