According to Manchester police, a male from Manchester Township suffered serious injuries in a collision on Route 530 in the Whiting area on Friday.

After the collision, which was reported at 6:23 p.m., Pasquale Foggio, 72, was transported by air to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, according to Manchester Capt. Vincent Manco. His status was stated as stable.

Foggio was traveling east in a gray 2010 Cadillac Escalade when it veered off the road close to Crestwood Parkway, striking a utility pole support wire and a traffic sign before continuing on and hitting a signboard and a tree, according to Manco.

Authorities think that before to the collision, Foggio experienced a medical incident. During the cleanup, a portion of the road was closed.

The following agencies provided assistance on the scene: Priced Rite Towing, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, Joint Base Fire Department, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Life-Flight Medevac helicopter, and emergency medical technicians from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services.
