An Ocean County man won $1 million in the New Jersey Lottery's Million Dollar Replay after entering a lost instant lottery ticket a second time.

At the prize drawing on Friday at the Caesars Atlantic City Hotel & Casino, second-chance prizes totaling more than $1.5 million were given away.

According to lottery authorities, Ed Schlesinger of Ocean County won the $1 million jackpot and was present when his name was called.

At the competition, which included hundreds of contestants, Ed's name was picked as the winner of the top prize. 14 additional people received monetary awards totaling $10,000 to $100,000.

Ed Schlesinger of Ocean County was the big winner at the invitation-only New Jersey Lottery's Million Dollar Replay Grand Prize Drawing. Ed "plans to utilize the prize money to aid his family by paying off college loans, car payments, and mortgages, as well as helping his wife realize a career aspiration," according to Lotto officials.

Schlesinger's name was chosen at random from among the entries made by lottery participants who submitted their instant tickets online throughout 2022 even though they did not win any rewards.

From among those submissions, 100 names were chosen each quarter, and each of the 100 was awarded a $250 prize as well as a spot in the grand prize drawing.

In addition to the $1 million reward, there were five winners of $10,000 each, three winners of $50,000, four winners of $25,000, and two winners of $100,000.
