According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, a grand jury indicted a Lacey mother on an aggravated manslaughter charge in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of her 2-year-old son.

According to prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, Natalie Sabie, 35, was also charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and possessing fentanyl.

On September 7, 2022, Sabie was caring for her little son when she discovered him to be unresponsive, according to Billhimer.

The youngster was declared dead at Community Medical Center after emergency personnel tried to save his life, according to Billhimer.

The investigation revealed that Sabie was not only caring for the youngster when he was discovered unconscious, but that he also had access to illegal drugs and there were two other young children there, according to Billhimer.

According to a toxicology analysis, the youngster had a considerable amount of fentanyl in his system, and "acute fentanyl intoxication" was confirmed to be the cause of death, according to Billhimer.

Sabie was detained on October 14, 2022, and has been housed in the Ocean County Prison ever since.
