A Forked River woman is in critical condition following a two-car collision on Tuesday afternoon about 3:30 pm in Manchester Township near Lacey Road. The accident is still under investigation.

According to Manchester Police, Jorie Sanzone, 61, of Forked River was driving a Toyota Rav 4 at the time of the collision and was traveling west in a Dodge Magnum when Nicholas Briggs, 25, of Whiting abruptly went over the center line and collided head-on with her car.

According to the police, the front ends of both involved automobiles were severely damaged on the driver's side.

Police reported that Briggs was not hurt in the incident, but they took him to Community Medical Center in Toms River "as a precaution due to the seriousness of the collision."

Police reported that Sanzone may have had internal injuries, thus she needed to be freed from her car.

At the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, her status is currently labeled as critical.
