Bicycle Helmet Ice Cream Program
According to Toms River Police Department, from now until the end of August, Toms River police officers will be issuing "summonses" to kids they catch riding bikes throughout town while wearing helmets.
Children who have the "tickets" are eligible to receive an ice cream cone at the participating ice cream parlors.
The police department announced that this year, more certificates will be distributed by its officers.
The department advised, "Wear your bike helmets, have fun, and always be safe!"
