According to Toms River Police Department, a pickup truck driver from Toms River has been charged with driving under the influence after smashing into a house's front door on Sunday night and leaving the home uninhabitable.
After the collision, which was reported at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday, Kevin E. Cannon, 24, was detained, according to Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department.
On Sunday night, Cannon was traveling north on Frann Road when, according to Messina, he veered off the road and crashed through the front door of the house. Finally, she added, the pickup truck came to a stop in the living room.
He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Multiple fire companies responded, along with Freedom Towing, to remove the vehicle from the residence. The Building Department also responded and deemed the home unsafe.
Mr. Cannon was issued citations for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane. His vehicle was impounded as per John's Law. The homeowners were home at the time of the incident, but were not injured. The incident remains under investigation by Officer Nicholas Lugo.
