Plane Down: Small Aircraft Crashes Into New Jersey Lake

A small aircraft crashed into a lake in West Milford on Saturday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Officials said the plane had only the pilot onboard at the time of the incident, with no other passengers aboard.

According to West Milford police, officers and firefighters responded to Green Turtle Pond, located on New Jersey State Park property in the Awosting section of the township, after reports that the aircraft had gone down in the water.

Authorities said the pilot was able to exit the aircraft without assistance and declined medical treatment at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
