Point Pleasant Beach Mourns Loss of Restaurateur in Snowmobile Accident

A man from Point Pleasant Beach who died in a snowmobile accident in Vermont is being mourned by his family and friends.

Snowmobiling close to the Stratton Mountain Ski Resort, Matthew H. Morris, 31, passed away on February 20, according to Winhall Police Chief Derrick Tienken.

Morris' snowmobile veered off the trail and collided with trees and rocks. A friend he was with called for help and he was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. The chief later confirmed that Morris passed away from his injuries.

According to his obituary, he was a prominent figure in the hospitality sector. He was a graduate of Point Pleasant Beach High School and went on to earn a B.S. in Hotel Restaurant and Institutional Management from the Penn State University School of Hospitality Management.

Over the years, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to his second home at Point Lobster Company in Point Beach, committing his time and creativity to co-founding Point Lobster Bake Catering Company where he planned and operated full service clam bakes for private and public events as well as launching the famous Point Lobster Bake food truck for high volume seafood stands in and around NJ.

He will be remembered by his family which also include many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends from the Jersey Shore and beyond.
