Lebanon Borough, N.J. — The New Jersey State Police is asking for the public’s help after a dog was abandoned on Main Street in Lebanon Borough, Hunterdon County.

According to troopers from Troop “B” Perryville Station, the incident occurred on March 24, when reports came in about an abandoned dog left near a fire hydrant on Main Street. Animal control officers responded and took custody of the dog.

During the investigation, troopers located a nearby video camera that captured a black, four‑door Nissan Altima stopping along the roadway. The footage shows a female wearing a red long‑sleeve shirt and black pants exiting the vehicle with the dog on a leash. She walks the dog behind the vehicle and briefly out of view. Moments later, she returns without the dog, gets back into the Nissan, and drives away. The vehicle appears to have New Jersey license plates on both the front and rear.

State Police are now seeking assistance in identifying the woman or the vehicle involved.
