The restaurant, which is a local favorite, has been sold and is now under new management.

The closure, however, is just temporary.

Frankie's, which first opened its doors in 1985, has been sold to Chefs International, a restaurant firm based in Point Pleasant Beach that also owns Rod's Olde Irish Tavern in Sea Girt.

Rod's is now closed for renovations; no reopening date has been set.

Frankie's will reopen after the restaurant's liquor license has been transferred to Chefs International, without any improvements.

In a news release, Frank Kineavy, who started the restaurant in 1985, said, "Frankie's was always the appropriate meeting point for Point Pleasant Beach." "Some of my coworkers have been with me for almost 25 years." I've always preferred running it to owning it because I enjoy being with my clients. I'm confident that Bob (Cooper, CEO of Chefs International) and his team will provide it with the leadership it need to continue to exist in the community."
