A Little Egg Harbor man has been charged with aggravated arson after authorities say he hurled a flaming device onto the front porch of a township home before speeding away on a motorcycle. Investigators say the July 1 incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at a residence on Oneida Lake Drive, where the homeowner managed to extinguish the flames with a garden hose before they spread. According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, 24‑year‑old John Algor Jr. arrived at the home on a motorcycle, lit a glass container filled with combustible material soaked in an ignitable liquid, and threw it at the porch before fleeing. A joint investigation by the Prosecutor’s Major Crime Unit‑Arson Squad, Little Egg Harbor Police, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was intentionally set and traced the motorcycle back to Algor. Detectives later found a motorcycle at his residence concealed under a tarp with its license plates removed. Algor was arrested on July 2 and charged with aggravated arson, possession of a destructive device, and hindering apprehension. He remains lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
