Dr. Gabriel Philip Jasper, M.D., tragically passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, alongside his beloved daughter, Gabriella, and cherished granddaughter, Giuliana.

Dr. Jasper embraced life with boundless enthusiasm and purpose, guided by the words of his father, Dr. Philip Jasper, M.D., who often reminded him, "Work hard, play hard, and love your life." Those simple yet powerful words became the foundation of how he lived each day—with passion, determination, generosity, and an unwavering appreciation for every moment.

A devoted physician, visionary, and humanitarian, Dr. Jasper was a pillar of love, strength, healing, hope, and compassion. A pioneer in minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery, he dedicated his life's work to advancing the field of interventional pain management and restoring hope to those living with chronic pain.

As a specialist in Anesthesiology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine, Dr. Jasper cared for thousands of patients through the Jasper Spine Institute in Brick, New Jersey.

His influence reached far beyond his own practice, as he educated hundreds of neurosurgeons, pain specialists, and physicians throughout the United States and around the world. He authored numerous publications on endoscopic spine surgery, served as a highly respected lecturer and instructor, and devoted countless hours to mentoring fellow physicians.

In 2015, in Mainz, Germany, he received the prestigious Parviz Kambin Award, becoming the first Interventional Pain Physician to earn this distinguished international honor.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jasper was an active member of numerous professional medical societies and organizations, always striving to advance the science of medicine while improving the lives of his patients.

To the countless individuals who sought his care, Dr. Jasper was far more than a physician—he was a guardian angel. He never stopped searching for answers and never gave up on a patient until every possible avenue had been explored. His remarkable ability to combine exceptional medical expertise with genuine kindness made every patient feel heard, respected, and hopeful. His warm smile, quick wit, and calming presence often transformed fear into laughter before a procedure even began. He possessed the rare gift of healing not only through medicine but also through compassion, encouragement, and friendship.

While his professional accomplishments were extraordinary, his greatest joy was his family.

Affectionately known by his loved ones as "Peter Pan" and "Batman," Dr. Jasper seemed capable of accomplishing anything he set his mind to. Whether flying airplanes, boating, farming, restoring automobiles, racing cars, or mastering an entirely new hobby, he approached every challenge with curiosity, discipline, and relentless determination.

A licensed pilot with more than 35 years of flying experience, he was meticulous about safety and excellence, inspiring confidence in everyone fortunate enough to fly beside him.

Dr. Jasper was also an accomplished Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Northeast Champion, whose passion for racing reflected his adventurous spirit and competitive drive. He was an avid collector of classic automobiles, an exceptional gardener, and a gifted cook who proudly earned the affectionate title of "Master Chef" from his family.

Some of his happiest moments were spent traveling to race weekends in his RV, creating lifelong memories with family and dear friends. He loved clamming and crabbing in Barnegat Bay, hunting at the Jasper Farm, and taking spontaneous morning flights to Lake Ontario to catch salmon before returning home in time for dinner. Every adventure became a story, every hobby became a passion, and every day became an opportunity to live life to its fullest. He never allowed age to define him, and his youthful spirit inspired everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Above all, Dr. Jasper leaves behind an enduring legacy of unwavering faith, extraordinary compassion, visionary leadership, and unconditional love for his family, his profession, and the countless patients whose lives he transformed. His impact cannot be measured solely by awards or accomplishments, but by the hope he restored, the suffering he eased, and the lives he forever changed.

Dr. Jasper was predeceased by his beloved parents, Dr. Philip Jasper, M.D., and Vincenza (Morici) Jasper; his brother, Dr. Theodore Jasper, M.D.; and his former in-laws, George and Louise Zanetti.

He is survived by his devoted son, Philip Jasper; his son-in-law, Tyler Hillgrube; his treasured grandson, Gabriel James ("GJ"); and the mother of Philip and Gabriella, Michele Jasper.

He is also survived by his loving sisters: Carmel Kostiuk and her husband, George Kostiuk; Dr. Josephine V. Jasper, M.D., and her partner, Peter Strungis; Maria Carusone and her husband, Joseph Carusone; and Vincenza Jasper-Paz. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Dr. Tiziana Pensabeni-Jasper, M.D., and her partner, Frank Sanchez; his brother-in-law, George Zanetti and his wife, Kim; his beloved companion, Roselyn Arias, and her children, Stephanie, Emily, and Tommy; as well as his lifelong childhood friends, Dr. Felix Vetri and Don Mion.

He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Alyx Villanova and her husband, Dan, and their children, Jerome and Bennet; Felicia and her partner, Jacob Tatom; Josephine Lo and her husband, William, and their son, Peregrine; Luca and his wife, Giulia; Alfredo and his partner, Keah; Joseph; Daniela and her son, Archer; and Teddy.

The Jasper family also wishes to recognize the extraordinary employees of the Jasper Spine Institute, who became an extension of the family through years of unwavering loyalty, dedication, and compassionate service.
