James “Jimmy” Patti, Jr. Obituary

James P. Patti Jr. aka Jimmy Patti, 55, of Forked River, Lacey Twp., NJ passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026 after a 3-year-long, courageous battle against cancer. James lived every day to its fullest. Every day was a celebration, and he lived, loved, and fought hard, but now he is free. He was loved by many, and his loss in the community, especially the boating world, will be felt. 

Born in Brick, NJ, Jimmy was a longtime resident of Toms River before moving to Forked River in 2024.

Jimmy was a marine technician and worked at various marinas throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties. He was also owner and operator of J.P. Mobile Marine and also kept the locally famous JP Racing alive with his brothers Anthony and Joey Patti. 

He was predeceased by his mother, Gloria Ann Patti, in 1984, and his older beloved brother, Richie Applegate, in 2018.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife Tammy Patti; his children James P. Patti, III “J.P.” and Christian Patti, along with his four stepchildren by marriage, Josh, Caleb, Jacob, and Rachel Ritchie. His father James P. Patti, Sr. of Milton, FL; his sister Dawn Marquez and her husband Ricky of New Egypt, NJ,  his brother Anthony Patti of New York and Joey Patti of Bayville, NJ along with his wife Paula and their children, Gloria “Gia” Ann Patti and Gionni Patti. Also, including his nephews Hunter and Trevor Applegate from Florida.

Also survived by longtime cherished friends who were forever by his side throughout his battle, including Chris Gray and his wife Natalie from Toms River; Delvis Flores and Angela from Brick, NJ; Chris Colson and his wife Emily from Hackettstown; and Corrinne Borges; and so many more who have supported him along the way. 

James was also a proud and active member of the Spartan Powerboat club of the Jersey Shore and was a longtime boating enthusiast for his entire life. Boating and racing was not only his profession but also his passion. 

A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held Thursday, July 23, 2026 11:00am – 3:00pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River.
