According to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office , they have sadly announced the death of K9 Emmitt with profound regret.

Emmitt joined the K9 Unit in 2013 and was paired with Sheriff's Officer James Kohout as his handler.

The National Police Bloodhound Association certified Emmitt, and he kept his accreditation throughout his career. K9 Emmitt was retired in 2019 and spent the rest of his life with the Kohout family. Thank you for your service, and may you be at peace.
