Road Rage: Impatient Driver Uses Pepper Spray in Route 9 Altercation

According to Lakewood Police Department, an Ocean County man was treated at a hospital after being pepper sprayed by what the man claimed was an "impatient driver,"

Around 2:15 p.m. on Monday, a 26-year-old Bayville man said he was stopped at the intersection of Central Avenue and Route 9, also known as River Avenue.

The Bayville man informed police that he stopped and remained in the road because he didn't want an impatient car to pass him, according to Staffordsmith.

According to the man who called the police, the impatient driver got out and sprayed the victim through his open window. . Before the cops arrived, the unidentified suspect then took off.

The man was being treated by Lakewood EMS when officers arrived to the complaint about a disorderly person. The victim was then transferred to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and was later released.

The reason the Bayville man refused to let the other motorist past him, according to Staffordsmith, is unknown.

Anyone with information is requested to call Officer William Cuzco at 732-363-0200 as the incident is still being investigated.
