The J. Stanley Tunney Bridge's bridge deck will be repaired beginning today, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The J. Stanley Tunney Bridge and westbound Route 37 will be closed next week for bridge deck repairs, according to state officials.
The closure will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.
For bridge deck and joint repairs, the contractor, PKF Mark III, will block one lane on Route 37 westbound and the Tunney Bridge between Sunset Drive and Douglas Avenue in Toms River.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. The work is scheduled to take several weeks, with the right lane being the first to be completed, followed by the left and center lanes.
The work is part of a $9.6 million federally financed preventative bridge maintenance contract in which 11 bridges in New Jersey will be repaired.
