Sad News: Ocean County's Beloved K9 Loses Cancer Fight

RIP K9 Roscoe

According to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office, authorities have confirmed the death of a cherished four-legged employee of the Ocean County Sheriff's Office.

After a brief battle with cancer, K9 Roscoe passed away on Friday at the age of five, the sheriff's office reported.

According to the sheriff's office, "Roscoe passed away peacefully with his handler, Sheriff's Officer Raymond Vosseller, by his side."

The K9 crimefighter worked for the Ocean County Sheriff's Office for four years. K9 Roscoe and Vosseller were both certified by the New Jersey State Police as an explosive detection team.

As employees of the New Jersey State Police Detect and Render Safe Task Force, Roscoe and Vosseller operated all over the Garden State. Both were frequently spotted attending neighborhood activities at places like Metlife Stadium and the Prudential Center.

According to the sheriff's office, the K9 and handler team were "inseparable at work and at home," and Roscoe was a "gentle pup who loved spending time with both his family and the public."

K9 Roscoe was excellent at his job and liked doing it, according to the sheriff's office. "He will never, ever be forgotten."
