While the day began with clouds and a few rays of sunshine, the weather in New Jersey will quickly shift later Tuesday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front will move slowly over our area, bringing the risk of showers and thunderstorms.

In the afternoon, northwest winds will pick up to 5 to 10 mph before increasing to 10 to 15 mph Tuesday night.

Through the evening, the winds will spread a belt of showers across the state, causing patchy fog.

Storms, gusty winds, and hail are predicted in south Jersey from 4 to 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The slow-moving cold front is likely to linger in New Jersey until Saturday, when it will then move into Canada. Fortunately, Sunday looks promising, with temperatures in the upper 60s.
