South Jersey Community Mourns 13-Year-Old Girl Killed in Scooter Crash

13-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Struck by Pickup Truck While Riding Scooter in New Jersey

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ — November 2, 2026

A 13-year-old girl has died following a crash involving a pickup truck while she was riding an electric scooter in Bordentown Township Friday afternoon.

The girl, a student at Bordentown Regional Middle School, was struck just before 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Route 130 and Burlington Road (Route 662), according to reports.

Authorities said the teenager was riding with another girl when the collision occurred. Witnesses told 6abc that the girls were attempting to cross the roadway near a crosswalk when a pickup truck struck one of them.

Emergency responders, including police, firefighters and EMS personnel, rushed to the scene to provide medical assistance. The injured girl was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where she died Sunday morning from her injuries.

The second girl involved in the incident was reportedly not injured.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene following the collision, with multiple electric scooters lying in the roadway and visible damage to a black pickup truck. Route 130 was closed for several hours as authorities investigated the crash.

The pickup truck driver remained at the scene and was questioned by investigators. Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the collision or whether any charges will be filed.

Community Mourns Loss

Bordentown Township officials announced the girl’s passing Sunday, expressing heartbreak over the loss of a young member of the community.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of a young girl from our community,” township officials said in a statement.

The township extended its condolences to the girl’s family, friends and classmates, as well as the first responders who assisted at the scene.

Officials are working with the Bordentown Regional School District to provide support to students and others affected by the tragedy. The Burlington County Crisis Response Team is expected to be available at the middle school this week to help students cope with the loss.

The crash remains under investigation by authorities.
