According to the military, a "wildland fire" started inside Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Monday.
By 4:05 p.m., the fire had been contained.
In order to prevent the fire from spreading, crews are employing burn-back techniques.
According to officials, no structures are in jeopardy and no one needed to be removed from the facility.
The National Weather Service said that on Monday afternoon, east winds are carrying the smoke toward Philadelphia.
