Stormy Start to the Week: Heavy Rain, Flash Flooding, and Damaging Winds Threaten New Jersey
An unsettled weather pattern is expected to develop late Sunday and continue into Monday, bringing multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms across the region. While some storms could form as early as Sunday afternoon, the highest threat is expected overnight Sunday into Monday.
Periods of heavy rain may trigger flash flooding in low-lying, urban, and poor-drainage areas, as well as near creeks and streams.
Some storms could also become severe, producing damaging wind gusts. The greatest risk for both flash flooding and severe weather is expected along and northwest of the I-95 corridor. Residents should stay informed and be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions.
