Press Release: Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention

At 6:31 PM on Sunday June 19,2022 the East Dover and Island Heights Fire Companies were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Mystic Port Place in the East Dover section of Toms River. Firefighters were notified of a possible person still inside of the residence. On arrival firefighters encountered one side of a duplex residential structure well involved in fire. A second alarm was transmitted that brought in units from Toms River Fire Companies No.1 and No. 2, and Silverton Fire Company. Ocean Beach Fire Company responded to provide coverage for the area.

Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior attack on the fire while conducting a search for the possible occupant. The fire was placed under control within twenty (20) minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene to conduct overhaul and extinguish small pockets of fire. Thankfully the occupants were not home at the time of the fire. Sadly, the family’s pet dog perished in the fire. There were no other injuries reported.

Fire Inspectors from the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention along with the Toms River Police Department are conducting the investigation. At this time the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
