Seaside Park's search for a missing swimmer has been halted for the evening according to News12NJ. The search is a recovery mission, according to local law enforcement authorities.
US Coast Guard, stated a swimmer vanished off the coast of Seaside Park on Friday night, sparking a massive emergency search.
According to the USCG, a call regarding a male 23-year-old who fell under the water and did not come to the surface was received at around 5:30 p.m.
A military spokesperson stated that this happened between O Street and Decatur Avenue, around 100 yards off Seaside Heights.
According to the Coast Guard, boats and swimmers were sent out by Seaside Fire & Rescue, the organization in charge of the coordinated search.
The hunt for the Palmyra man is a recovery effort, according to local law enforcement authorities. The person's family has been informed, according to the police. Around 8:30 p.m., the search was halted as the missing swimmer had not been seen.
