According to the Mayor, the girl was airlifted to Neptune's Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Emergency crews from the surrounding area pulled 18 year old, Levy Caverley, out of the sand about 6:45 p.m. who was pronounced dead.
The Toms River Police Department requested that the public avoid the beach.
This is not the first time that a beach in Monmouth and Ocean counties has collapsed. A youngster was rescued from a collapsed sand hole by Belmar police, lifeguards, rescuers, and firefighters in July 2020.
A 12-year-old boy was rescued from a collapsing hole at Surf City by lifeguards and witnesses in August 2015.
