According to officials, a social media threat triggered a shelter-in-place order at Toms River High School East on Tuesday.

According to Jillian Messina, a media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department, said the threat could not be substantiated.

At 10:42 a.m., Toms River Police received a threat call, according to Messina, and the shelter in place was implemented while officers investigated and secured the school.
