Toms River Boating Accident Leaves One Person Dead

1 Dead, 5 Injured

According to the New Jersey State Police, at 1:30 am, Sunday morning an 18-year-old man who was aboard a pontoon boat in Barnegat Bay died after the craft struck a marker near the Route 37 bridge.

Trooper Sgt. Alejandro Goez stated two of the five others aboard the boat were ejected into the water upon the crash, but made it back onto the boat. Four sustained what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. One had moderate injuries.

The 18-year-old, whose name was not disclosed Sunday night, was airlifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center, in Neptune, and later pronounced dead.

Goez said the crash remains under investigation.
