TOMS RIVER, NJ A popular fast-food chain is one step closer to opening its first Toms River location. Chick-fil-A has received approval from the Toms River Planning Board to build a new restaurant at the Ocean County Mall, bringing another major dining option to the Jersey Shore community.

Former Bahama Breeze Site to Become New Restaurant

The planned Chick-fil-A will replace the former Bahama Breeze restaurant near Hooper and Bay avenues, along the perimeter of Ocean County Mall. The Bahama Breeze location closed in May 2025.

According to local news reports, the township's Planning Board approved the proposal on October 7. Plans call for the existing building to be demolished to make way for a new Chick-fil-A restaurant with drive-thru service, parking, landscaping and covered ordering areas. The redevelopment will transform a vacant restaurant property into a new destination for residents, shoppers and visitors.

What Will the New Chick-fil-A Offer?

The proposed restaurant is expected to feature Chick-fil-A's familiar menu of chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, nuggets and other popular items, along with drive-thru service.

The Toms River location would join the chain's existing Ocean County restaurants in Brick and Stafford Township, giving local customers another option closer to home.

When Will Chick-fil-A Open in Toms River?

Although planning approval marks an important milestone, an official opening date has not been announced. Demolition, construction and other steps will need to take place before the restaurant can welcome its first customers.

Residents will have to wait for further updates as the project progresses.

Another Addition to Toms River's Growing Dining Scene

The Chick-fil-A project is among several planned restaurant and retail additions in the area surrounding Ocean County Mall. The development reflects continued interest in expanding dining and shopping options throughout Toms River.

For local chicken sandwich fans, the biggest question now is simple: How soon will the new restaurant open? Stay tuned for updates on construction, the anticipated opening date and additional details about Toms River's newest dining addition.
