Toms River Man Arrested for Theft at Brick Wawa

After reportedly reaching over the counter at a Brick Township Wawa store and stealing $3,500 worth of smokes, a local man was charged with theft.

The event happened around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 29. at the Wawa on Brick Boulevard (116 Brick Boulevard). Officers were called to the store and were able to watch CCTV footage of a man leaning over the cashier counter and grabbing a large brown box before exiting.

According to authorities, the box contained a considerable quantity of carton cigarettes worth $3,500.

The culprit was identified as Robert Rizzotti, 62 of Toms River by the Brick Township Police Department's Street Crimes Unit (SCU) investigators three days later, on Nov. 1 around 8 p.m.

Rizzotti fled the Wawa before officers arrived, but the SCU tracked him down at his Toms River home with the help of Toms River patrol units. The stolen things were recovered during a second inquiry, which led to Rizzotti's arrest.

On a summons for shoplifting, he was escorted to Brick Township Police Headquarters and released.
