Toms River Man Dies in Garden State Parkway Crash

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A 57-year-old Toms River man was killed Thursday afternoon after the Nissan SUV he was driving left the Garden State Parkway and struck a tree, according to New Jersey State Police.

Mark Edgell was involved in the crash at approximately 4:45 p.m. near milepost 103.1 on the southbound Parkway, State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said Friday.

According to police, Edgell’s SUV first struck a guardrail before veering off the roadway to the left and crashing into a tree.

Edgell sustained fatal injuries in the collision, authorities said.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by New Jersey State Police.
