Pedestrian Killed in Toms River Crash: Under Investigation

According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Vehicular Homicide Squad, Toms River Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, are currently investigating a fatal pedestrian strike that occurred on May 1, 2024, at approximately 8:25 p.m., in the area of Route 166 and Hilltop Road in Toms River Township.

According to Toms River Lieutenant Gene Bachonski, the accident near Stella Plaza involved a car, a motorbike, and a pedestrian on Wednesday night.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, who confirmed the fatality on Thursday morning, the victim was struck on Wednesday about 8:25 p.m. on Hilltop Road.

Due to the continuing investigation, the prosecutor's office did not disclose any additional information.

For two hours, Route 166 was blocked between Lomell Lane and Mapletree Road.
