5 Half Days in Person Learning
According to many news outlets, Toms River students will be in the classroom for five half-days of in-person instruction beginning May 3, Interim Superintendent Thomas Gialanella announced Wednesday night at a Toms River Board of Education committee meeting.
According to Superintendent Gialanella, he said the district had been looking at moving to five days in person before Spring Break but the increasing covid19 numbers stopped him from doing so. Now, however, the district has seen a significant decrease in coronavirus infections over the last three weeks.
What the district has seen, instead, is a significant decrease in the infection rate, with the number of teachers and students who are quarantining down 50 percent over the last three weeks, he said.
"We are satisfied we are ready to go," Gialanella said. "Our infection rate shows we are ready for that."
