Wet Weather Coming Our Way
According to National Weather Service, forecasters are monitoring Tropical Storm Philippe as it is anticipated to move into the northeastern United States, and another period of heavy rain appears possible in some areas of New Jersey this weekend.
The majority of Philippe's effects appear to be further northeast of New Jersey, while the storm may increase local precipitation levels and stir up winds along the coast, according to forecasters. One week after post-Tropical Storm Ophelia hammered the Garden State with severe rain, the prognosis for the East Coast may change if the storm's path moves closer to the state.
For people who live in New Jersey, Philippe might make what is already forecast to be another rainy weekend even worse. Despite the high temperatures, AccuWeather and the National Weather Service anticipate that by the end of the week, the region will have experienced considerably cooler weather, with rain beginning to develop Friday night and intensifying on Saturday when a powerful cold front passes through.
The Middle Atlantic and Northeast will experience rain and thunderstorms on Saturday as moisture from Philippe is pushed into the area and combines with the cold front. "Within this area of rain, bands of heavy rain are likely to form that could cause flash flooding."
