Tragic Accident: NJ Man Fatally Struck by Vehicles After Falling off E-Bike

According to Manchester Police, a man from Manchester Township was killed on Monday night after his bike fell over in the middle of the road and he was struck by two cars.

Just before 7 p.m. on Monday, Joseph Slover, 54, of the Whiting district, fell off his electric bicycle while pedaling west on Route 530 close to Whiting Memorial Park, located at 600 Route 530, according to Capt. Vincent Manco.

As per Manco, he passed away at the scene.

Following his fall, Slover was struck by two vehicles traveling west on Route 530: first, a gold 2004 Ford Taurus piloted by Whiting resident Dylan Coyle, 28, and second, a green 2008 Nissan Sentra driven by Toms River resident Gary Paszek, 70. Both were unharmed physically, according to Manco.

Although the investigation is ongoing, Manco stated that it looked that the cyclist's error and the low light levels were the main contributing reasons.

Patrolmen Brendan Brush and Michael O'Hara are conducting the investigation.
