Under Investigation

Two People Killed

According to authorities, the man was driving a pickup truck that went off the Parkway and slammed with a Toyota, killing both the driver and passenger.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, a GMC Canyon driven by a 33-year-old Toms River man slid down an embankment and through a field of grass before colliding with a Toyota Corolla driving on Asbury Avenue in Tinton Falls.

The Corolla's driver, a 40-year-old Baltimore man, and his 35-year-old female passenger were both pronounced dead at the site. Their identities were withheld until their families were notified.

On Saturday, Asbury Avenue was closed for the initial inquiry.

The pickup truck driver was transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he agreed to a blood test and gave police his cell phone. As of Monday morning, no charges had been filed.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
