Structure Fire on Whitty Road in Toms River

According to Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention, the Whitty Road structure fire was reported to the Pleasant Plains Fire Department and Silverton Fire Company at around 4:50 this morning. A huge single-family home was confirmed to be on fire by the first responding units. Eventually, the fire would be elevated to a 3 alarm, involving numerous outside organizations.

There were several cats, dogs, and birds were inside the house at the time of the fire along with the homeowners. The residents managed to flee the fire, and numerous animals were saved however, there were a numbers of animals that sadly perished in the fire.

The fire caused a partial collapse of the roof structure on the home. Fire fighters from all Toms River stations and multiple mutual aid companies operated for approximately five hours. Two firefighters were injured during the fire and have been treated for their injuries and released. This fire is being investigated by the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention and the Toms River Township Police Department.
