Two Ocean County Residents have been Hospitalized

A catastrophic single-car incident on Route 571 near Kingsridge Road in Manchester Township early Friday morning sent two Ocean County residents to the hospital.

Manchester Police arrived at the site around 4:40 a.m. and discovered that a vehicle had collided with a utility pole.

The Acura TSX was severely damaged in the collision.

Manchester Police determined from their early investigation that Jamier Mcleod, 19, of South Toms River, was traveling west on Route 571 when he lost control of the vehicle.

It caused Mcleod's vehicle to drift off the highway and into the woods, where he collided with a utility pole.

Mcleod was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune City for treatment of possible internal injuries, while his passenger, 19-year-old Ivanalai Garci of Berkeley Township, was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of her injuries, which included an apparent head injury, as a result of the collision.

Manchester Police discovered that Mleaod was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which occurred on damp roads under cloudy skies.

The Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department and Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, as well as paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson, Manchester Emergency Medical Services, and JCP&L, who were on the scene to fix the utility pole, were all present, according to Manchester Police.

Sergeant Paul Bachovchin of the Manchester Township Police Department's Traffic Safety department is still investigating the accident.
