Unexpected Passing of Competitive Toms River Dancer

Alex Lopez

The First Class Dance Academy in Brick's Alex Lopez is recognized as a "charismatic firecracker" who once won regional and national championships. At age 22, he passed away suddenly last week.

The dance instructor at the academy where Lopez trained, Alexandra Petrizzo, said Lopez of Toms River was "easily able to make everybody laugh."

His close friend and dance partner Madison Nelgeri remarked, "He was the life of the party." "He was the one to go (to) if you were sad."

Lopez began dancing at First Class when he was 14 years old, and he will graduate from the institution in 2020 after receiving numerous dance scholarships and taking first place in numerous regional and international contests, according to Petrizzo.

His contemporaries said he was well-known among dancers for his enthusiasm and the way he would embrace the persona of each song he danced to.

The planet truly lost a great deal of light. It was Alex. He stood out among others. A truly lovely person," Petrizzo exclaimed while sobbing.

His fellow dancers praised him as a selfless performer who was always willing to assist others with choreography. Lopez continued to visit the dance academy every year even after she had received her diploma to assist with recital planning and to support the dancers, according to Petrizzo.

She remarked, "He genuinely loved this school and was quite proud of it.

Lopez, a graduate of Toms River High School North, performed in lyrical, tap, ballet, and afro beats. But according to his contemporaries, hip-hop was his forte. He was recently trying to figure out his life, enrolling in online classes, and planning a move to Miami.

"This came on so fast. One of Lopez's closest friends, Gabriella Argondizza, who had dinner with him a few days prior to his passing, claimed that he was in good health, enrolled in online studies, and had solid financial standing.

A GoFundMe Has Been Set Up in Memory of Alex.
