Take Precautions
A storm with "hurricane-force" winds is anticipated to slam the Garden State, causing power disruptions and flooding.
A warm front will bring temperatures into the mid 60s Thursday afternoon, but it will be followed by a powerful storm system that will bring rain and gusty winds to New Jersey Thursday night and Friday early.
Experts are warning homeowners on the East Coast that peak gusts of up to 60 mph are expected during the Thursday night weather event. According to
AccuWeather, high tides will cause localized coastal flooding, while "pounding waves along the shore may potentially contribute to property damage along the water's edge." Melting snow and strong rain may cause more floods.
Wind gusts of up to 45 mph are expected, which could blow trash bins and outdoor furniture away, as well as sever tree branches and electrical lines, according to forecasters.
Localized
power outages are also possible, especially at the Jersey Shore.
