Winter Storm Alert: Latest Forecast for New Jersey

The winter storm from Monday night is still having an impact on the Garden State, and forecasts say another strong storm is likely to hit on Friday.

As some folks continue to dig themselves out of the snow, Wednesday's wind chill in New Jersey is expected to be in the single digits and teens. Hundreds of schools will open later than usual because of the extremely icy roads.

However, Mother Nature isn't giving up on the Garden State's winter storms just yet. Another bout of snow is expected on Thursday as temperatures reach the high 20s.

Around the state, one to four inches are possible on Friday, with South Jersey expected to experience the worst effects beginning Friday morning. The counties with the heaviest snowfall are predicted to be Monmouth, Atlantic, Camden, and Gloucester; North Jersey and Cape May are predicted to receive only a dusting of snow.

The National Weather Service stated in a statement that there may be "some questionable temperatures at least Friday morning that may keep the precipitation as rain or wet snow, but just inland should be all snow otherwise" along the shore.

Due to the approaching storm, all 21 of New Jersey's counties are expected to have severe weather through Tuesday as of 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

The organization warned that "accumulation of snow and/or sleet may result in significant travel disruptions on Friday."

According to an AccuWeather forecast, the new storm will cause "deicing operations as the snow spreads across the major airport hubs and the smaller regional airports." "As airlines fall behind schedule and crews and aircraft are displaced, flight cancellations will increase."
