Arrested for kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes.

According to Toms River Police Department, officers were called to Aldi, 86 Route 70, on February 25, 2024, at around 6:55 p.m., in response to a disturbance caused by customers quarreling in the parking lot.

When they got there, the people that were involved had already fled. It was stated that a male acquaintance had abducted a woman at knifepoint, assaulted her, and left her unconscious at another location. For her injuries, the woman sought care at a nearby hospital.

The suspect, identified as Luis Morenogutierrez, was apprehended by the Englewood Police Department and transported to Toms River Police Headquarters.

He faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and was lodged at the Ocean County Jail.
